Not sure what these are. I saw them yesterday afternoon as I was going home, and they were still there or there again as I drove to work today. I was thinking ducks but I could be completely wrong.
Also, down by the state beach are some new "No Smoking" signs. The no smoking rule has always been in effect but visitors have been ignoring it lately. The park staff are tired of cleaning up the cigarette butts. You probably can't see it clearly here, but one of the signs is to the right of the lifeguard stand. This is a photo I took a couple of days ago.
I talked to one of the rangers yesterday afternoon to find out about those signs. He said that the staff really don't want to have to personally remind people of the smoking ban. They don't want to get in visitors faces. It would just be nice if people obeyed the park rules. He also told me that some empty sandwich bags were found in the ladies' room on the weekend, suggesting other things were being smoked besides cigarettes. There may be a time and a place for those activities, but the lake is a family-friendly place. It bothers me that adults are breaking the rules so flagrantly. I wish the visitors would show more respect for my favorite swimming spot. I am here year round. It may be a party spot to some, and I do hope they will come and have a good time, but save the illegal stuff for somewhere else folks.
Ok, rant over. Anyone know if those are ducks or herons or ???
