It's a rainy day today but yesterday the sunrise was beautiful and I caught some of it.
Photos of Lake Wyola, Shutesbury, MA. Also with occasional posts about the wildlife I see on my commutes through Shutesbury, Leverett, Amherst, and Montague.

Beautiful fall day at Lake Wyola, Sunday September 23rd
It was a beautiful day at Lake Wyola State Beach today. I went with my daughter to go on a nature hike with some other families. We weren't the only ones there though. There were people fishing, boating, water-skiing, setting up for beach volleyball, and also some tourists around too. The leaves aren't really turning color much yet, but it's coming.

Left for work a few minutes late this morning and caught a little bit of daylight. Here's Lake Wyola at 6:30am today:

my apologies
It's been getting harder to capture sunrise lately. The sun is coming up a little bit later in the morning and I've been leaving the house a little bit earlier. This morning it wasn't quite light out when I drove past the lake. I could see the ducks sleeping on the beach, but I couldn't QUITE make out the first rays of the sun yet. I'll get something for you soon though. I promise.

Beautiful morning, Sept 13, 2012
Beautiful ride into work this morning. Wish I'd been able to catch the red sun coming up over the top of the hill in the center of Shutesbury, but that is a tough one for me because I can't really stop IN the intersection where the picture would be. Still nice to see that, and the fog on the lake, and then later a bird near Haskins Meadow in Amherst. Of course once I got to campus I had to take a few more pictures, but I'll save those for one of my other blogs.
Here's what I have for you from Shutesbury and Amherst this morning. Sunrise at Lake Wyola and bird pictures at Haskins Meadow:

Monday morning, 9/10/12
No pictures this morning unfortunately. I was running late and didn't have time.
There was a light rolling fog on the lake, and the ducks were occupying the state beach quite well. A car was parked at the beach parking lot, waiting for a school bus, so I decided not to pull over to get a picture of them. As I drove around the corner, the town highway department was just beginning to pry the seasonal speed bumps out of place. I'm sure they will be gone when I go home later on.
Meanwhile down near Haskins Meadow, at the little pond, the heron was there. Car behind me though so no chance to get a picture of that one either. A little fog over the meadow which was nice too. Definitely a chilly morning outside.
I'm looking forward to the leaves changing colors. Always beautiful at the lake when that happens.
Over the weekend people were swimming in the lake, staying after the 4pm closing time. Too cold for me but it looked like everyone was having fun.
Maybe this afternoon I'll get a chance to get pictures. We'll see.

Wednesday morning in the rain, Sept. 5th, 2012
Pouring rain as I came past the lake this morning. Not sure if it will show up well but the ducks were awake at 6:30am and swimming in a giant puddle on the grass between the road and the sand at the State Beach.
