On my way home today we came across some geese on the beach. I didn't get out of the car because I had my daughter with me, and we didn't want to get too close but I took some pictures from the car.
Photos of Lake Wyola, Shutesbury, MA. Also with occasional posts about the wildlife I see on my commutes through Shutesbury, Leverett, Amherst, and Montague.

We got some snow yesterday, it's still there this morning. November 28th
It snowed yesterday. At Umass it all melted, but up on the hill and down by Lake Wyola it's still there this morning. I expect it will be gone by sunset if it warms up enough today. In the meantime I took some pictures on my way to work.
My street (a little dark still)
State beach parking lot-
State beach--
Lake Wyola dam-
On top of the hill, on Wendell Road-
Center of Shutesbury--
Not so much snow in Haskins Meadow in Amherst, just for comparison--

It's getting colder, November afternoon
I had a few minutes to stop at the Lake Wyola State Beach yesterday afternoon around 4pm. I'm not sure if the pictures will show how pretty the sky was. It was a nice pink and blue, just before sunset. Amazing how fast it gets dark now as winter approaches.
The lake is just starting to get a little ice on it. If I had taken photos from the cove it would be more evident, but that will have to be another day.
During the summer the water goes right up to this wooden deck.
Looking out- that line might be ice-
Looking toward Shore Drive--
Looking at the dam, and the dam house-
another shot looking out, trying to capture the pink sky-
A view of a home with some tree damage. I think the tree missed the house, but not by much. You can see the water line on the shore-
Where the fishing dock attaches to land during the summer. All those rocks are usually underwater, under the dock--
Not sure how this one came out-
Again, the water is much higher in the summer. That boat is usually just barely on shore-
Looking at the barn. Love this place!-
Fishing dock up on the beach-
Shot of the parking office and the park ranger's barbecue. I'm not sure why they put an ice warning on the parking office though.-
Sunset picture from the parking lot. I have posted other pictures from this spot as well. It's an easy shot to get from the car when I'm in a hurry going to work.-
View from the road that goes past the dam.- This is a shot that I've posted on this blog before during other seasons. It's another easy one to get from the car. -

snow on the lake
We got a dusting of snow last night and this morning. As I was driving past the lake it was still coming down. Great opportunity to capture another change in the seasons.

and we're back!
Thanks to the time change, it's daylight again on my morning commute. I tried to get you all a photo of a flock of turkeys I saw in Leverett, but when I looked at my camera all I'd manage to photograph was the dashboard of my car. Such is the way it goes some mornings!
I did you get you a new photo of the lake at 6:30am. The railings in the picture is the fishing dock up on the beach.

Photos of the east side of Lake Wyola (Shore Drive, North Laurel, Wendell, Lakeview Roads)
Went for a little walk late this morning because the weather was nice and brought along the camera.
New house going up on Shore Drive
Some pretty red on North Laurel Drive
Chapel at Pine Brook Camp on the Wendell/Shutesbury town line
another view of Pine Brook, even in November it's in use.

I think this was the site of a fire recently on North Laurel-

Beautiful October afternoon
Got the camera out for a few pictures around the neighborhood this afternoon. It was a beautiful fall day and I just couldn't resist!
